    Using Kato Unitrack there is the expansion track (20-050) as of last update you can insert the track section and use the cut-off too to cover the expansion range (78-150mm). On the layout your software can compute the gap, and if it is range cut it to exactly the correct distance. In real life, you just connect one side and slide the other side to click in, much simpler than the fiddling of rail modeler. It would be nice to have RM compute the gap and draw the rail segment connected to both ends, as simple as IRL

    yes but set the base board in the upper left corner of the canvas, offset down and to the right 6 scale inches so the base board upper left corner is at zero/zero. Much easier to figure layout in real world dimensions and still see the length and width arrows of the baseboard.
