Measure tool (Snapping)
The Measure tool is nice but it is difficult to measure exact distance between two elements. It might be an idea to make it glue to the edges of the element in some way so that it "finds" the same point in the other element (e.g. from left side of rail to left side of rail). Also, an indication of the angle from the underlying element would be nice so that one knows that the result is the shortest distance.
At the moment, measuring with 3 decimals is pointless if I don't know if I measure exactly 90 degrees from the element.

Improved tape measure to add
• <shift> key to restrict the ruler at 45° intervals,
• origin snapping to joint of the nearest track,
• end point snapping to joint of tracks (both controlled by global magnetic area setting)
• origin snapping to nearest baseboard corner point,
• end point snapping to nearest baseboard corner point (both controlled by global magnetic area setting) -

I like this idea. It would be useful to me as well

Would be useful also to have with this feature, a button to display/hide distance (measurement) between tracks or anything else like on technical drawing. It should not cover the track layout.

The comment just indicated what should potentially be included in this feature from an app perspective - sorry about the confusion.

Where does one find "Snap to anything" Checked Settings

Add <option> or <shift> key to hold the drag at 45° or 10° intervals or maybe user settable. It would be nice if the origin snapped to the nearest track and when it was (clicked) connected to another track, it would snap to it. Once connected it would remain connected until dismissed. Clicking uoon the ruler again would dismiss it. The length needs to be clear to see, as one would want to verify that the measured length and endpoints are properly connected. The sticky ruler might be an optional setting, as I can see someone wanting to do a number of quick measurements without the accuracy. The sticky one is useful for very precise measurements.

Should also include:
• Enable "Snap to anything" for tape measure (joints, rails, points/borders of shapes)
• Lock angle in 45º steps (relative to source)
