Flex track calculator for cut of rest bits
I use quite a number of flex tracks to fill in lengths of tracks that aren't available. So I have quite a lot of rests lying around which I can still use in other parts of my layout.
Now Railmodeller always calculates a full new flex track if you go to the itinerary list where you can also see the costs.
Imagine, RailModeller could have a preference like: Keep rest Flex Track-Cut-Offs longer than ... mm (or ...%) or even 0.
Then RailModeller could calculate the needed FlexTracks on the sum of the flex track lengths used in the layout. (Or could only take a new flex track into consideration when there is no rest of another cut of flex track.

I'm glad to see others have expressed similar ideas to my initial question on "Flex track totals". For me it's a simple (?) computer calculation to avoid a cumbersome process of finding/measuring/adding screen totals to summarize ones required inventory for construction.
Solution: Total number of inches/mm/cm of flex track required to complete the project. However, I do realize (and sympathize) that the computer coding may not be so simple and appreciate the challenges!
I keep all my flex track separate and grouped generally according to size (3', 2', 1', 6" etc.). So when it's build time, it's an easy grab in the parts bin.Keep up the excellent program design work!

Sounds like a great idea, though it's more complicated if you think about it in more detail -
The app can give you the optimal number of flex tracks that need to be purchased, but you'd then have an amazing puzzle at your hand figuring out how to cut the flex tracks into pieces and where the individual pieces would go on your layout..
I.e. just providing a number (minimum number of flex tracks) unfortunately isn't a satisfactory solution.
Having said that, we're thinking about a pragmatic approach! -

Yes please, the number of Flextrack pieces is rather irrelevant, total length of flex track is vital information.

I'd like to see this implemented because there's no way to calculate the number of full lengths of flextrack actually needed to be bought for a layout without laboriously adding up the lengths used by hand.
Alternatively, a way to run a report that summed the lengths of flex track in use would help.
The appropriate place to show this info would be in the parts list, perhaps in the "Statistics" section ("Total length of flex track used: Xmm"), maybe broken down by different types/manufacturers of flex track ("Generic flex track used: Ymm; Peco SL-100 used: Zmm... etc)

This is basically the same as "Revamp Flex Track Calculations", so you could add another 6 votes. But this one is more complete!
