Easy drawing of dimensions
I'd like to be able to draw dimensions on the layout. This would be really helpful for track building.
At present I have to use the ruler to measure and then draw manually the dimension, it is a real pain.

Change the dimensions of document.
After changing the layout to a smaller than before the document keeps the old size.
1 voteThe feature was added for RailModeller Pro and is available in the current version (5.0.3).
-
a layout grid that can be switched from inches and feet to millimetres and centimetres in an easy way.
Currently it is impossible to set the grid to fractions of inches and feet, unless I am missing something. You can set the doc to inches or feet and the layout grid in various ways, but I can't see any way to have it display inches and feet. Many manufacturers use inches and feet, so we really need this. At least we need inches with with proper fractions.

An easier way to draw the table top (Baseboards)
Draw the shape of the table in one step, marking its corners by clicking once.

-
The ability to elevate double track, crossing and switches
Pretty self-explanatory, without it, the elevation feature is close to useless
31 votesThe Update to RailModeller Pro 5.1.2 now handles crossings and switches in graded track sections
-
Shift-select to select a range of track
Click one track, shift select further down the track, and have it select all the tracks in between (shortest path). This would let you colour sidings and mainlines and the like much more easily.

-
A hot key that inserts a track at the end of the last track that was inserted ("continue track")
This would allow one to create a curve by extending the track like now, then hitting this new hot key 4 times, instead of having to carefully hit the end of each track 4 times. This would be similar to how space bar swaps the direction of the curve easily.

-
Select all adjacent tracks of the same colour
Being able to select all the adjacent tracks of the same colour, rather than all the tracks of that colour on the whole plan or layer, would make it easier to correct the colour of subsections of the layout without having to disconnect that section, colour it, then reconnect it.
15 votesAvailable in RailModeller Pro 6.0.5
-
Google Maps as background
Planning of realistic stations and tracks would be much easier, if Google Maps could be opened, moved and zoomed to fit in a background-layer. With this, one could position tracks exactly as in reality.
31 votesNow possible with image import in version 5.2!
-
Adjustable tolerance for sectional track joints.
Allow for an adjustable tolerance, i.e. a "snap-to" angle adjustment for sectional track. Duplicating plans from magazines often results in sections that do not connect in RM, but will in real life without much stress on the tracks.
27 votesNow available with version 5.0.11
-
A full window without floating panel as option
Just like in photoshop, add the possibility to have a full window without floating panels.
10 votesThe feature was added for RailModeller Pro and is available in the current version (5.0.3).
-
Change flexible track length/radius at any time
Now: if you select a flexible track to change its length and/or radius, the actual value jumps back to standard which is absolutely needless. The chosen values must stay and we need the chance to change exactly these values as often as we want.

Benchwork layers.
Currently polygons can be used to get general idea of where track will go, but polygons cannot be set a different heights. Multilevel planning of the benchwork could help visualize what something will do to a room, etc. So would like to have physical layers to model multilevel construction.
16 votesBaseboards are now available with RailModeller Pro/Expres 5.3!
-
Parallel tracks for correct track distance as a function
If you want to start a new track, it would be convenient to have an option to place two parallel tracks in the correct distance. For Märklin C-track 74mm or 64.5mm and so on

-
Parts Purchase List
an option that would show just the parts for a specific layer:
You could put all tracks related to a certain stage (e.g. just the new tracks) in a particular layer and then just create the part list for that one layer.9 votesThe feature was added for RailModeller Pro and is available in the current version (5.0.3).
-
Multiple open windows with different tracks
It would be nice to have several different tracks open. So it would be more convenient to copy and paste between different plans
37 votesThe feature was added for RailModeller Pro and is available in the current version (5.0.3).
-
Shortcuts used to Mac-/Photoshop-users
For example: cmd-h to hide/show a level, cmd-space-click to magnify etc.
