Easy way to save / load "track snippets" (Macros / building blocks)
It would be nice to save/load special combinations of tracks (brace cross roads < Hosenträger-Weichen) etc.
Macros are planned for a future update
-
Building blocks should be organized by
- model scale (e.g. all H0 blocks),
- optionally filtered by track library (show only blocks w/ Atlas True Track elements) -

Often in a large layout, geometries of tracks is equal and are repeated.
It would be useful to create a function to store binary groups. This "Macros" function would make the design of complex layouts faster.
This function may be called, for example, by:
H0 »Tracks » Macros
However, if you choose to create a Menu as Shape or Smart Insert, the user should not abandon the binaries library he has in use.
The name of the Macro must be decided by the user.
Macro should also be subject to the brand of binaries used. For example:– Fleischmann HO Profigleis
– – Macro 1and also:
– Miscellaneous
– – Macro misc 1To better understand the utility of the function you can look at the sample image:

"Some track constructions and standard and repetitive. There is a best way to construct a 72 inch radius reverse loop, a crossover, or parallel track with clearance for long cars on curves. I am sure your users could name many more. You could save them time by adding these to your smart options."

= A library of common building blocks, possibly shared between all users, with appropriate categories (by scale or library)

General snippet manager would store snippets locally.
Along with community sharing for layouts later this year this could further be extended to include 'public domain' snippets shared by other users.

Please include lines/circles etc. into such a snippets feature. If a snipped could be transferred to Railset Editor, then we could create "modules" and use RailModeller to plan modular railroad arrangements. :-)

Similar to 'text snippets' in text editors one could mark a selection of tracks and make it available in all layouts for quick access
